Chimera states in FitzHugh–Nagumo networks with reflecting connectivity

We investigate the effects of reflecting connectivity in a network composed FitzHugh–Nagumo (FHN) elements linked ring topology. Reflecting is inspired by linking between opposite hemispheres mammalian brain. To study synchronization phenomena and coexistence synchronous asynchronous domains (chimera states) under influence this connectivity, we use two versions FHN model: Version I where membrane recovery potentials are interlinked via rotational matrix (Omelchenko et al. PRL 110:224101, 2013), version II only not ones (Shepelev al., Phys. Lett. A 381:1398, 2017). In both realizations, forces activity to organise connected semirings. Our numerical results give evidence that, for FHN-I positive (negative) coupling strength, coherent (incoherent) oscillatory regions develop reside junctions For FHN-II model which supports multistability, our simulations indicate that appropriate values parameters semirings separated oscillating elements.
